With this assignment we were asked to choose from a list of poems and a list of foundries/typefaces, then create a booklet that showcased both. I chose the poem "O Captain My Captain" as it is widely understood as a metaphor for the end of the civil war and the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, and I found the Monotype typeface/foundry to be appropriate pairing, as they were coming to fruition at roughly the same time as these events. I went with a patriotic theme that was reminiscent of the aesthetic of that time period while still feeling modern, and chose to not use any found elements (only typographic solutions)
